Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing. And if so, where you able to file for naturilization 4 years and 9 months after you became a permenant resident.

Also, I was just wondering if anyone that has experienced this has been able to update the petition of their child on the date that they file for naturilization or did you have to wait till you where a citizen, to update the priority of your child's petition.

Hey, thanks for the info Joe. I see that you've been waiting for close to 2 months, now. Good luck with your naturilization.

90 days before the 5th anniversary, yes. People do that all the time.
Indeed, I have applied 2 months before my 5th anniversary (still pending.)

I saw the following thread in Citizenship forum few days back. May be you would want to check it out:

I agree this case is slightly different. but the main problem was he/she applied two months in advance (instead of waiting for 3 yrs, he/she waited only 2 yrs 10 months).

You are still a PR until the oath, so updating petitions in only possible once you have taken the oath.

Ohh, ok, thanks for relaying that information to me.

hi, I would like to ask a question that is regarding naturalization... I am GC holder since December 2005. I have all requirements to apply for us citizenship process. now I am out of US. can I apply for naturalization when I am out of US?

Yes you can submit the application when you are physically outside the US, but you must still return to the US for the fingerprinting, interview, and oath.
