Can you apply for N600 and passport at the same time ?

I see most people applying for passport first and then for N600.

Is there any problem with applying for both at the same time ?

I was thinking of applying for my passport as soon as I get my naturalization certificate and also N600 for my son using a copy of my naturalization certificate.

Once I get my passport and naturalization certificate back I'll apply for my son's passport.

Anyone see any issues with this scenario ?

Yes, you can apply for both at the same time (sending copy of the natz cert with the N-600 and the original with the passport).

The only gotcha would be if the passport office took so much time that the USCIS came back first and scheduled your interview. I believe you need to show the original natz cert at the interview (I'll know in a little over a week). The likelihood of the USCIS beating the department of state seems pretty low - no matter how slow passport processing gets.

There is really no hurry on the N-600. It only becomes important "over time". 20 years from now, your child does not want to be required to prove his citizenship by proving that he met the rules of the Child Citizenship Act this week.

I've been nervous about my daughter's N-600 only because she's leaving town to go to University in a month and a half - I really want to get everything done before then.
