Since, embassy and officers look for proofs of relationships and paperwork, and since we ourselves can be a BIG LIVING PROOF of the relationship to go and tell them in person, I think they should allow us to be present with our spouses during the interview? Any experience???????????? What u guys know about this? Will embassy allow the USC sponsor to go in with his/her spouse for the interview?

I know that they are allowed to carry any document and bags of paperwork with them, can they take their spouse too with them as a living proof?

What is the rule?

How is this situation at New Delhi Embassy? I am sure almost every one out here had this interview experince , so please share some information on this.

Thanks!!!!

Hello. I need some feedback plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I couldn't think of any reason why the spouse shouldn't come to the interview especially when the immigration is based on marriage. To be more specific why in the world should the immigrant go there alone anyway ?

If your the US citizen, then nobody can stop you from going to the US embassy. Think about it. They don't look at any relationship docs, just show your US passport.

Exactly! This is what I think too. They must allow the spouse during the interview. But, I heard from people that they will ask the spouse to wait out side and that does not make any sense to me at all. That is why I am asking those who in fact went to the actual interview so that they tell us their personal and real experience. Anybody plz?

You may enter the US embassy as a USC of course, but my concern is:Will the officer/interviewer let you to be present during the actual interview in the window or room where your spouse is being interviewed? From my common sense, I assume that they must allow that as the visa is based on maariage only. But , from what I heard from others is something else. SO I request again from those who atteneded actual interview in Delhi embassy to tell us their real experience. Thanks

The interviews at Embassies and Consulates are different than the ones as Adjustment of Status where both parties should be present. He can enter the US embassy but that doesn't mean he would be allow to participate on his spouse's interview.

You can send an email there and check if you can go at your spouse's interview. But at least if you can enter you can wait outside.

Good luck,

I went along with my wife when she had to appear in New Delhi US Embassy for her FTJ (immigrant visa) interview. There was no problem at the entrance. We were allowed in after few questions and security check.

One of staff was collecting appointment letter in the main hall, near the entrance. We waited for almost an hour after that. During interview, initially I was with my wife at the window. After preliminary phase, they instructed us to go and pay the fees and wait in the main hall.

After waiting for another 15 minutes, announcement came. We went to another counter and process started. After initial round of questions, lady at the counter asked me to sit and wait. I told lady at the counter that my wife is not aware of paperwork and just let me know if you think anything is missing.

Wife spends another 5-10 minutes at the counter and then they announced my name requesting to come to the counter. They had couple of questions regarding my line of work and GC approval date etc. After going through with them for another few minutes we were told that FTJ case is approved. They gave us a receipt/paper so that we can pay courier fees.

We were out in another 15 minutes and passport came in mail few days later.

Hope this will help.

Although this is a 10 year old thread, I have the same question. Does Delhi embassy currently allow US citizen petitioner to join applicant for IR\CR1 interview?
Anyone with recent experience, please advise. Thx
