Hi all,

I am planning to invite my mother on a visitor visa. With the new rules set by the consulate, we need to take a $100 draft from an authorized HDFC bank and then set an appointment with in 1yr from the draft issue date.

My question is:
Can I take the draft online from HDFC or VFS website using my credit card or debit card? I want to avoid the extra step for my mom to visit the HDFC branch for the draft. OR can it be done over the phone using a credit/debit card?

Any info you could share would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Thanks,
H.K.

No, u have to go to the DESIGNATED HDFC branch to get it. I know its a pain, but no choice.

Also, Anybody can go on behalf of the applicant with their passport. Take copies of first and last page of the passport as well.

What about people who are on H1 in the US and want to setup the appointment in India. How do they go about it as they are in the US(so also is their passport)??

Thanks.

I was talking abt visitor visa.

Read this:

Note: Indian citizens resident in the USA and applying for a visa( restamping for H1, H4, L1, L2 , F1,F2 etc) to replace an expiring visa can request an appointment at any of the four US consulates in India. This facility is provided by VFS under emergancy appointment.

where is this quote coming from? please post the link.

the original questions was lost here. Is there a facility to pay the fees online? it is ridiculous to rely on someone to help you out. the hdfc banks are also located in major cities only.
