can we start our own business if we get laid off?

hi,

can we start our own biz if v get laid off after 180 days have passed since ND of 485 and continue working for it? or is there some specific timeframe that needs to be adhered to for us to continue in slavery and bondage. the new occupation is not the same as tech consultant background of mine. im scared as i hav 3 kids and a wife 2 support here, and i dont c any job market revival in the valley or even in the alley.
 
did you get your card

you could do this safely only after getting the GC. If you get an RFE, you would get into trouble and you application may be denied. Better to try to get a job even if less paid till you get your card in hand.
 
did u try job hunting in the valley lately?

I\'ve over 10 years as an SA and I dont even get a middleman call :-(
 
No offence. I saw one guy who got fired in 3 companies in less than a year

got a job in big company (he used to be a consultant for an Indian company) and his colleague also works for the same consulting company waiting for a project for the last 3 months. The real point is the guy who is on bench wrote 2 books on Java.

The moral is you have to be at the right time at the right place. It doesn\'t matter how much experience we all have, we have to have little bit of luck.

I know it very difficult to get a job now. I am so far lucky. I am aware of the market. But there is nothing much we can do other than not to loose hope. I also tried dice.com, monster.com and computerjobs.com. These days no one has decency even to inform us if we are not selected. May be they get more resumes than they can handle. Keep trying. My friend who was in bench for last 6 months, got a project last month. so if you keep sending resumes to everyone, one may click. So keep trying and good luck. One advice, dont try at one city. be ready to relocate to any place in US.
 
This is other question "Can you be a sponsor for yourself ?", I think answer is negative
