Can we re-use Advanced Parole?

In some cases AP is being stamped and given back while other cases AP was stamped and taken by the Officer at POE. Can we re-use the same advance parole that has stamped or do we need to use the second copy for the second visit? Logically we should be able to use a copy till it expires and probably the second one is for backup...Any thoughts?

eggpulsu - you can use the single AP for numerous times within the valid period..

CouldNotPost - i think any questions related to 485..might be..AP...FP...EAD..can be posted in this forum...there are 100s of threads on these topics here...just wanted to clear that up..

Should keep the stamped copy

I think the officer should hand the stamped copy back to you. Sometimes they don't by mistake, you should ask them to give it to you then. An officer at ATL put mine on her shelf and I had to ask her three times before she realized that she kept my AP.

I agree with gatonegro!

This is what happened to my wife and me:

We were issued TWO APs each.

At POE, four were stamped and two given back to us.

I asked the officer if I could reuse the stamped one he just gave back to me.

He said: "YES. And make sure the officer gives it back to you because it is the only one left."

I interpreted this to mean that I can use the second one (which is already stamped) endless of times AS LONG AS IT DID NOT EXPIRE.

Madhav,

with the intent not being bickering at all, there is a dedicated forum for EAD/AP.

i definitely do not intend to act moderator and would defer, but IMHO an addition to numerous mistakes wouldn't help clear the clutter - gently nudging newer members in the right direction just might make the pile less unmanageable...

cheers...

Just a word of caution. The expiry date entered by the officer on Advance parole at POE is date of expiry of stay (similar to I-94 date but date is meaningless). People get confused this date with expiry date of advance parole itself. AP expiry date is date originally printed by the USCIS.

This is how it was explained to me by the officer at POE
Once copy is for them to keep the first time you enter, the second copy they stamp and return to you. From then on each time you enter the country you they will stamp the second copy and return to you.

I just got back using AP for the first time and the officer stamped one copy and did not keep either of the two.
I guess as long as the AP is stamped it should be OK.
