Can we go for stamping without approval notice

What is your wife's case status online message says? If it says "Your case is approved" then hopefully there shouldn't be a problem getting stamped in the Passport.
My friend's case got approved a week later by the KY local office after his interview because his 1st FP was expired. So the KY local office waited for his 2nd FP clearance from FBI. Because of this the online message didn't change. He actually came from west coast to attend the interview(He moved to west coast last year). When he went to his local office in west coast for passport stamping, because of the Online message didn't change to "You case is approved", he couldn't get the passport stamped eventhough he had the approval letter in his hand sent from KY local office. Then finally he got his card last month (another big story).
So, in order to get the stamping the local office staffs always looking for the online message.

It's done
Intially they said 'NO' for stamping without Approval Notice, We explained the situation and talked with her supervisor. Finally they stamped...

thanks for the update- I am approved according to TSC immigration officer, who also said that no approval notice was mailed to me. (my status does not say approved online) the officer has told me to go for passport stamping and claims they will give me a stamp without a letter- I am not so sure-I think they will deny me as they initially said to you.
