Can we go for FP without getting FP notice?

I am still waiting to get my FP!!!!!!!
But friend of mine told me that we can go to the local ASC office and show
them our I485 receipt notice and they will take our FP???!!!!!!. He claims that this what he did in Charlotte NC. He says ASC will consider our case if the I485 receipt date is 1 year old and we have not received FP notice from service center!!.

Any idea?
 
I heard about that too at Jacksonville,FL. Can give a try by taking appointment through Infopass.
 
what does "ASC" stand for? I know that normally, FP is given by local sheriff office. Are these two are same thing? where can you get the location of a local ASC office. I would like to try. Thanks
 
Sorry that I am still confused.

FP for I-485 will be done in Application Support Center instead of local sheriff office? Where can I find the local ASC location? Thanks
 
I tried that back in April of this year when I went in to an ASC for my e-EAD index finger print and picture I took my I-485 reciept with me and asked if I could do my 485 finger print then...the lady sympathized with me and told me to call the 800 number and ask them to schedule it...I called the 800 number and all they could do was read my on-line message back to me....I tried asking in several different ways...and all the guy could do was read the on-line message back to me....

I tried to do the same thing- at charlotte too- but they would not allow me to FP. If you have the time, give it a go, but do not expect success. Post your situation if/when you try.

I had my lawyer send a letter reminding them about my FP back in July and I faxed a letter myself.
