Can we do this Part 2?

MeandTSC

I saw in this forum people are ready to pay $100 per family to speedup the I485 process for funding to TSC.
Why don’t we contact Senator or Congressman telling him that if he sorted out our issue we will raise the funds for him paying $100 per family?

Pls. Share your ideas.

Thanks

This is a good idea. One thing to keep in mind is you can contribute donations to a party. So instead of us folks contributing to individual congressperson etc. IF we can pool the money and give it as a large sum, that would have more effect than folks trickling in the money. Now here come the politics. Are you going to give it to Republicans (who are in power and seem to be more interested in National Security than immigration matters) or to (democrats who are not in power so they might push our cases better, but the outcome is questionable)

So I would say the action items are
1) Contact the congressperson/senator to see if such an idea will work. Then we can decide whether going the republican or democratic way is best.
2) If the politicians think it will work, collecting the money will not be a huge problem.

My two cents
For my part I will write to the congressman and senator to see what reply we get.

I am for it

I am for it, let us do what Tru says, since many of us have filed petition to of no avail, and moreover MONEY TALks

And so did the Hispanic community to get all the illegal immigrants legalized. There was a great fanfare of bonhomie expressed by Bush and Vincente Fox. Well, what happened then is history! After 9-11, not only all that lobbying by the Hispanic community went into the doldrums, but Bushies managed to garner more electoral base by appealing to the majority community in an ad hominem manner. That dream of expediting the Hispanic immigrants' status still continues to be just that: DREAM.

In the post 9-11 environment yes lobbying for illegals are definitely out. But the Bush govt. should consider us legals. By polling the politicians we will know who will support us and then we can see what needs to happen.

My peeve is the govt. approves $15 billion dollars for AIDS prevention programs. More than twice the amount that was allocated last year or a 100% increase. And they give BCIS $3 million increase in budget for next year (probably is less than 1% increase). So does the Bush govt. consider us less worthy of a cause compared to AIDS prevention programs. My money definitely is going to the democrats for next year election.
