Can we call FBI about background check?

Anyone called FBI to find out about the status of their background check? If yes please post your details. IIOs repeatedly telling me that they are waiting for my background check from FBI (Wac-01-293 series).

FBI usually returns the results in couple of days.
This is the number, check this out.

Thanks for your reply. I think, you are talking about FP results sent back to INS by FBI. I'm talking about background checks conducted by FBI after FP. Or Both are same???

Or do we talk with an associate ?. What details do they ask for? Like case number ., etc.
 
I may be wrong but I don't think that FBI runs a background check. To me, a background check involves work history, finanical history, criminal history, medical history and so on....

I think INS only cares about criminal history which they accomplice using 1) FP , and 2) Name matching with the names in a database (I forgot its name).

For name checking, INS needs first name, last name, and MI. If your name is unique and have no criminal history (or not in CIA unwanted list etc...), this test runs OK in minutes. But, if there is a hit, then they do further investigation, which takes time.
