Can we apply two I-140's at the same service center

I work for Company A where I have my Labor Certification approved and they just filed for my I-140 and refused to apply for I-485 saying that its their company policy not to apply for I-140 & I-485 together and that they would apply for I-485 only after the approval of I-140 and also I am afraid of being laid off.

There is a Company B who wants to hire me and would apply for I-140 & I-1485 together for me using labor substitution.

Is this ok as two I-140 applications will be with INS now.

Please help.
