can we apply EAD- ?

My company does not apply EAD for me, but they will apply I485. So what happens to me, post 180 days of I485 RD, if I have to change company for some reason (after 180 days of RD of I485).
1. Do I need EAD to be in GC pursuit ?
2. Can we apply EAD, after we get I485 RD without company\'s permission? What is the process ?

After receipt of receipt notice which has A number you can apply on your own

You need not have any assistance or permission from your company or lawyer.

Whether it is Post 180 days or before 180 days better to have EAD on hand with the present market situation.
