Can USCIS keep this waiting game forever?

I was already told processing time doesn't mean anything. But there got to be a limit, say clear cases which RD are 1 year older than processing date. If this is not the case what are our options? We cannot wait forever.

Do not wait...

Well everybody in life has an option to not wait and go home. (just kidding....).GC is not end of life..... think of it like getting married..you will get your soulmate when you will get it...

I understand its frustrating........ :) May be you are more valuable in your home country...

Thanks guys. But I am in a situation that I didn't get GC by the end of this year, I will pass a great opportunity. My 485 is pending for almost 2 years now. I read somewhere if 485 is not adjudicated in 2 years, applicants can sue USCIS to force them either approve or deny it?

That's Belony. You can't sue USCIS because you've been waiting to long!
It all depends on what category you're applying for. In my category I've been waiting 5 years. I filed in 2000 and just now will have my interview next week.
Be patient.

My category which is a special refugee based category called HRIFA, doesn't have a visa wait time. In other words, visas are immediately available for that category.
That's just how long it took them to process it. It was supposed to be completed in only a year, but there was a huge delay after 9/11. So, my turned is finally up. Hopefully the interview will go well, and I'll get approved.
I'm not complaining though; I could be in the brother/sister category and the wait time for those is 10 years.
