Can spouse get unemployment benefits after GC ?

We recently got our GC approved. My spouse has a college degree but
has never been employed anywhere. Is she eligible for unemployment
benefits considering how hard it is to get a job in these economic times ?

unfortunately, not. your spouse has to earn 40 credits atleast to get the SS benefits. and a person\'s ex employer should have paid unemployment insurance premiums for him in order to get the unemployment insurance benefits. maybe there are other ways to get dole, i am unaware of it. good luck with the job hunt.

Did you sign the affadavit of Support for your wife?
It will be binding for three years within which you
are responsible that she does not have to take any
public assistance.
