Can someone give me some advice on my situation.

I've been on H4 for a few years, then transferred to F1 for school, and I'll be transferring to H1 soon.

I know that the amount of time I was in H4 counts towards my total H1 time. So when I go into H1, I'll have (6 years - my H4 duration).

Is that case for concern? I mean, If I file my PERM 1 year before my 6th year deadline, then I can continually extend my H1 in 1-year increments until there's a decision on my PERM case, is that correct?

And after I get my PERM and filed for my I-149, then I can also extend my H1b in 1-year increments till there's a decision on my I-149 case, right?

Thank you for your responses. Yes, I did mean I-140.

But I heard that such 1-year extensions (for PERM and I-140) are not eligible in my case for some reason. Is that true?

What if I filed my PERM before my 5th year, and when my PERM is approved, I have only say 6 months left. Will I still be able to file for the I-140 and continue to get 1-year extensions?
