Can someone explain me the meaning of priority date..

Hi friends,

I am not clear with priority date concept.

Is it the date when the labor certification was applied for? ( I mean the first step of the GC process)

What is the Reciept Date and Notice Date mean? I have seen this on the I-485 reciept copy that our lawyer sent to us. If it is that date, for us
RD is 08/11/00 and ND is 09/08/00

Currently, for what priority dates do they send the FP notices?

Any info would be very helpful.

Well,Priority Date is the date on which your Labor Certification was filed. It will be on your I-140 approval. Receipt date (RD) is the date on which INS received your I-485 documents. Notice date (ND) is the date on which INS entered your data in their system. I do not know who is getting FP notices now.
