Can someone change the profession while 485 not approved?

I have a friend who worked as a programmer but wants to change the profession to medical(wnats to join residency in a hospital). Her 485 is not approved yet. But if she joins residency her current software company can support her with any legal evidence for RFE required by BCIS. Do you think its fair and ok? and also, is it possible.

My guess

If the company supports her then it may not become an issue now. But later even after approval (at citizenship or GC renewal) CIS may think it as fraud.

Tammy 2 is right

It may be considered fraud if you plan to do it the way you are thinking.
However, your friend can wait for approval and then do whatever she/he wants later.
Misleading or using false documents should definitely not be an option at any time.

I think there might be a problem, because the LC has approved her as 'programmer', not another profession/line of duty/job.

When there's an RFE, the reply has to be very strong and compelling to the CIS.

Employment based GC is meant for future employment for job designation which is mentioned in LC. Your friend will get approval anyhow irrespective of job duties but BCIS should not know abt the profession change. Your friend may or may not have problem during getting citizenship but who knows, laws might change that time. I think it is advisable to stick with same job profession till she gets the GC and then she can change after 6 months of 485 approval.

This is my opinion, do take suggestion from lawyers too. :)

My understanding is that after getting EAD one can work part time at a different place. Also in a different profession. As long as the employer can support the 485 process, it might be okay.

This is just my openion. check with your attorney too...

true but

the primary job for which the LC/140 has been approved has to be full time and anything else should be on the side.
Best Wishes.
