can reentry permit fingerprint be done abroad?

Hello,
I applied for reentry permit when i was in the usa a few weeks ago but then left. Now do i definetely need to come back to usa for fingerprinting, or can it be done at a us consulate abroad?

If it can not be done and i can not come back to usa for the fingerprinting appointment, does it definitely mean that it will be denied? Because on the instructions it says if you do not come to fingerprinting appointment, it "may" be denied. Are there any experiences in this regard?
 
if we can not reschedule, and it is considered abandoned, does it have any negative effect on anything else?
 
No negative effect other than having it denied, and the consequences of not having the permit when you return to the US.
 
Okay I missed the appointment due to being outside the country. And then I called USCIS and they told me to send a letter to the appointment center along with the copy of appointment notice to reschedule it, which I will do. I will try this anyway but not sure if this will work. I mean the operator on the phone was not even sure when the deadline was to send this letter. Any experiences or thoughts? May be is it because there is no further action taken and it is "considered" denied unless or until you reschedule something or do they take another step to "deny" it at some point in time, after the apointment? ?
 
Okay I deleted them sorry, my internet connection is a disaster here so may be thatwhy i clicked more than once when i thought it didnt go thru... Anyway, can someone answer me if possible? Thanks

You mean for the return of long (greater than 6 months or 1 year) absences only, where you have to have the reentry permit and not for shorter absences where you do not normally need reentry permit correct?

Yes. Having it denied for not showing up at the fingerprinting would be the equivalent of never applying for it in the first place.

Ketanco,

You said you missed your biometrics appt in the US due to you being outside the country. Did you ever receive an appointment letter? do you have anyone in the US retrieving your mail for u?
