Can PERM take hours to be approved?

I heard from an immigration attorney that a PERM filed online is processed by a computer based software. And if the answers to the online form are consistent, the PERM is approved in hours or next day. Is it true that the PERM can be approved in hours or next day when filed online?

In the past, yes; our record of approval once was 18 hours which was unbelievable. These days though no, PERM takes much longer to process. Perhaps the attorney is talking about the case being 'approved for processing' (i.e. the DOL sponsorship questionnaire has been completed and the DOL emails that the case has been accepted for processing.) You can view the current processing times on the iCert website. So I guess the answer is 99.9% no, but who knows with DOL right?
