Can one have a L1 stamped while a H1 visa is already stamped

Is it possible to get an L1 stamped while a H1B is already stamped on passport?
Or the H1B has to be cancelled first?
Or will the consulate cancel H1B in this case on their own?

You can stamp the L-1 visa at the consulate - to my knowledge the H-1B will be canceled.

Can someone confirm this?
