Hi - After one submits the N-400, is it possible to have a change of address? If it is, what form/application does one need to submit? Is there a duration during which it is not recommended to have an address change at all.

Thanks.

Yes you can :). you can call the 1-800 customer service # and notify them of your address change and they will update that in the system for your N-400. You also have to file form AR-11.

Hi g2alerts -

Yes you may change your address once the application has been submitted. You will need your receipt and A numbers. I recommend you do the following:

1. Go online and submit the AR address change from, you can use this direct link to access the form https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa. Be sure to print a copy of the confirmation page for your records - this is only proof you will have that you have complied with the law! The law requires you to notify USCIS of a change in address within 10 days of the move.

2. Call the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and change your address with a customer service representative. Follow the voice prompts and select the option for N-400 (Naturalization) Address Change.

Good luck.

Filing a change of address after submitting N-400 usually costs you a minimum 90 day delay (often longer) due to the time required to officially become a resident in the new district.

Only if you have relocated to a different city under a new district office
