Can one apply for EAD and OPT at the same time?

Hi,

My husband and I have just applied for EAD (and Adjustment of Status and Advanced Parole). The process was emplyment based, my husband works for a US company. I am still in school but I am graduating this quarter. Can I also apply for OPT (optional practical training) through my school? Is this legal? Can applying for the work authorization both way cause me any problems?

I have a question, if you have applied for EAD and if you expect that you can get it, then why to apply for OPT. You can start working as soon as you get EAD.
As for the question of wether you can apply EAD and OPT simultaneously, which most people dont...i might add, my answer is you CAN. Why? Because OPT is non-immigrant work petition, while EAD is immigrant work petition, both are different in nature. The day you use your EAD, you OPT will become VOID.
