I have an employment based I-485 pending with CIS. I was going to apply for a marriage based though my husband, who is a US citizen. I was hoping to amend my I-485 from EB to MB instead of reapplying with a new I-485. However, I just got off the phone with an immigration officer who told me that they don't do that and I need to apply all over again. Has anyone been in the same situation before? Please share!

You have to apply all over again, but MB AOS is a LOT faster than EB AOS.
You could take 3-4 months to become a resident through marriage with an USC, in the best case scenario. I recommend you to re-file
