do nurses come under EB3, or they have a different category --somewhere i read that they come under Schedule-A workers and their PD is current.

just now i got the scare that since something like 50,000 visas were set aside from left overs from past years for schedule-A workers.

if PD is current i can imagine that 30k nurses may come in next year from india itself, and there wont be any visa left for any other category.

please say that i have the wrong data.

Mr Prasad,

If they want to come they will come. But why invite more attention by posting this issue on the forum unless one is in the nursing profession. Now because of this thread say 100,000 nurses may come then the retrogression will be disastrous for the rest of us who are looking for some positive news :)

I believe not much is in our control. However, approaching the lobbying groups and help them get support is a brighter idea.

I hope all those who are already in the process are allowed to file their 485s. Any new GC applicants should be warned about the wait times and uncertainties.

Have a great weekend.

Demand and supply

I urge all of you to wake up to the capitalist world. It is all about supply and demand. The US is the capitalist mecca and ultimately looks after those interests. Tech workers were in demand in the late 1990s and so all sorts of rules were passed to fulfill that need, now the need is for nurses/physiotherapists so a special quota is there for them. Ultimately we all just have to bide time for a robust jobs recovery and then there will be all sorts of gimmicks created to absorb all of us. At this present time there simply is not the tremendous need for tech workers in the US. Of course the business lobby will always say there is a shortage but as we all know that is to keep a lid on wage pressures. They are sort of or allies because though our reasons are different we both wish the same result.
Lets wake up to the capitalist reality and hope more than anything else for a vigorous economic recovery.
With best wishes to all.

OK .. talking about nurses .. as we have already started this thread ... do physiotherapists come along the same category ?

What are other preferred occupations to get a GC if any ? I am an EB3 PD Jan 2003  Guess I should marry someone from a preferred occupation.
