Can Name Check start before FP done?

Is that possible that FBI can start a Name Check even before they got the FP?
My congressman helped to figure out our name check status from FBI and FBI stated my husband's name check was cleared in Sept. 2004 and mine is still pending. However, our FP date was in March, 2005. Did they make a mistake (I mean typo)?

I don't think FP is a prerequisite for namecheck. FP is used for other security checks which usually is done fast.
 
FP NameCheck and Background checks are different with each other


FP:
Usually involve fedral agency to check ur finger prints in their criminal database.


NameCheck and Background check:
Namecheck Usually involve many inter-agency's procedure , noone is sure but ppl guess somehow names are checked /cleared from their system/procedure.


Background Check:
Some procedure, with possibility that the applicant file is sent to consulate at home country for some verification.


The all above are ppl guess and noone is sure about it.


Ppl should not worry about those procedures, neither they need to know what they do and how they do. it will give u nothing than restless and sleepless nights and worries. think in this way if u are clean, why to worry . :D

Trust on God(whatever ur beliefes are or u name him) . whatever is written in Luck it will come/happen on right time.

Try to be busy like "Bee" (not sure how CATs can make themself busy like Bee :D) and Be Happy like this :D :D , Leave these worries on God he would take care of these things and Everything will be okay. Remember You think good you will have good, You think pesimistic way your worst dream will come true.

I didn't know until today!!

shahramt and POJ, Thanks a bunch!! I had thought FBI made a mistake :p . On the other hand, seems my name is too popular (every one likes it :p ) and really don't know how much time it has to bother FBI. I am a busy cat and have to catch many mice per day :o

Sure, but you may have to wait until next Monday. Remind me if you don't receive by Tuesday.

Besides the letter, you also need to fill a form to authorize the release of your information to the congressman. If you go to your congressman's website, you should see a form used for inquiry. Fill that form and then send together with your letter.

Following is the sample letter:

Dear Congressman XXX,

We have some immigration related issues that need your help:

The receipt dates for my I485 application is XXX. I did the finger print on XXX. As you are aware that the Green Card process involves background/name check by the FBI which generally takes two days, in my case it is pending for over XXX months. I have called FBI but as per their policy they do not give any information on phone and I have to send an email asking for information, which I have done multiple times. There is no information/feedback from FBI.

My detailed information related to I485 application is listed below:
Name:
A-number:
Date of Birth:
Date/Place Application was filed: XXX. The applications were filed to Texas Service Center (TSC)
Receipt Number:
Finger Printing Date:

I need your kind help in getting the FBI name check expedited. I really appreciate your precious time and warm help!
