Can my US Citizen son who is a student sponsor GC for me?

My son was born in the US and is a US citizen. We currently live outside the US. If my son goes to study at a US University (fees paid by me) and is older than 21 - can he sponsor me and my wife for GC? Assuming, not him, but I would have sufficient financial resources to support me and my wife in the U.S.
