Can my sister be my sponsor

I in the US on H-4 and my sister is on a Green Card status,currently my H-4 that I received from my spouse is due to expire and we might have to return back to our own country.My question is can my sister sponsor me and make me stay in US and if so whats the process and how long will it take?What visa category I would be in? and am I authorised to work?
 
your sister has to get her citizenship and then she has to file a I-130 for you. you have to then wait until your application priority date becomes current. this can be anywhere from 10-20 years i believe. having a I-130 filed for you does not mean you have any status. you have to maintain your legal status on your own, either by f-1, h-1 etc.
