Can my parents go to India to get documents required by RFE?

My parents are in US on a visitor's visa. Their Green Card has been filed as a 'Family Based GC'. They got a RFE which requires more documents. Their AOS was filed along with I-130. Both, I-130 and I-485 are in pending state due to the RFE. They don't have AP. The question is:

Can they go to India and get the required documents? If they do, is their case considered abandonement?

Not sure, but may be you can go and get the documents. I think they cannot travel the case is approved, becuase while coming back at POE they may be questioned for an intent to immigrate...

Which documents you need, maybe you can get from consulate...

They can not leave country unless they have advance parole least they will abandon their AOS. Google yourmaninindia they might be able to help.
