Can my I-485 be considered abandoned?

My I-485 is pending for some time now. I maintain a valid H-1B status because it is not expired and I have not used EAD or AP or changed employer. I also have a valid H-1B visa in my passport. I recently traveled and used this visa to reenter.

My only concern is that I did not inform the immigration officer about my I-485 and was not asked to show I-485 receipt notice even though I had it with me. I saw recommendations to do that on some immigration web sites.

Is it possible that my I-485 is in trouble now?
 
Yes, I know that I was allowed to use H-1B visa. How important is the fact that I did not notify the immigration officer about pending I-485?
 
I am sure that on your I-94 card, they cancelled the printed number and entered your previous 1-94 number, from that number, they will most probably know that your 485 is pending. Still if you want to feel convinced that you won't have trouble, ask a lawyer
