I got a letter of recommendation, I should say it is a good letter, but one sentence bother me, "Overall, her achievements have been of the same caliber of the most outstanding researchers in the field".
Does this sentence hurt my case? Thanks for any inputs.

If you can ask your referee to edit it, I would replace "the same" with "a".
Actually I talked with him, but he said this means a good one. what the immigration officer will think about that? does this hurt my case?

If it is an independent letter, you should be careful in persuading the recommender to makes changes in favor of you.

I might be wrong (I am not a native English speaker), but it should read either
"...have been of the same caliber as the most outstanding researchers in the field" or
"...have been of a caliber of the most outstanding researchers in the field".

It's a very simple correction but it makes the sentence more clear.

In the present format it reads like you "...have been of the same caliber of the most..." which someone might read as "average".

But it's, of course, only my humble opinion.

The best of luck!
