Can I use AP for travel while on H1 or do I need to revalidate my visa??

Hi!!!
I would appreciate if any one you can tell me what is best option available to me.

I am on H1 and my visa had expired. I got my AP. If I were to travel abroad, can I use my AP or do I need to revalidate my H1 visa since
I am on H1 and not using EAD.

Any help is appreciated.
