Can I travel with a Green Card via Asylum and a National Passport?

Hello

I just received my Green Card through Asylum. I am planning on traveling NOT to the country of persecution, but other country. Is it safe and legal to use my National Passport and/ or get it renewed if necessary? Or would I have to get a Refugee travel document as an alternative?

Please advise!
