Can I travel to Canada on valid I-94 but expired H4

Hi,

- I am on a valid I-797 & a valid I-94 with the expiration date in September-2006.
- I do NOT have my H1 visa stamped in my passport & my previous H4 has expired since Sep-2004.
- I am an Indian citizen with an Indian Passport.

Given these conditions, is it possible for me to travel to Canada for a week. I have read on this and other forums regarding the 'Automatic Visa Revalidation' but am not sure what the exact rules for this policy is.

Also, do I have to surrender my current I-94 while I depart because in that case I would not be having my I-94 when I re-enter using Automatic Visa Revalidation.
