I want to travel out of country for a week on vacation. I'm still waiting for my interview letter. Can I legally go out of country for a few days or do I have to be physically present in the US to keep my USC application valid? I don't know if it's relevant here, but I have already met the continuous residence requirement.

Thanks!

Yes, you can travel while you wait for your interview.

Just make sure that during the interview, you let the Immigration offier know that you have some changes to make to the travel section.

You can print out the amended page and take it with you to the interview to give to the IO.

Have a good vacation :)

Hello to Everyone
I just found out about this website and I really like it. Most of you here are very knowledgeagble about immigrations issues. I have a few questions . I am on OPT which will expire in february 2008. I was wondering if I can travel and get back to the US by the beginning of next year, just 2 weeks before the expiration of my OPT. How long does it take to have an interview when someone applied for asylum? is it possible to leave the country after getting approved and coming back to follow the process of getting the work permit?
Sorry if i asked too many questions.
I really appreciate your help.

Bakassi, you're asking GC related questions in the Citizenship forum - we're not necessarily the best people to help you.

Your situation sounds a little odd to me. Why would you be planning to travel for nearly 6 months when you are supposed to be utilizing OPT to get work experience? Why would you subsequently be planning to request asylum?

Sounds to me like you need to see a lawyer, or else you're going to find yourself denied and on the next plane home.

Boatbod,
Thanks for the response. I got a good training course in Europe which starts in october and ends in january 2008. I have been looking for a job but I didnt find anything so I decided to apply for this certificate at Oxford and I got it. Thats why I was wondering if it would be possible to get back to the US few weeks before my OPT expires.
