Can I Travel Between Interview and Oath

Hi I am asking this for a friend.
He is in Houston He has his Interview in June end and Oath will not be till august 8th. He is planing to go for a vacation out of USA for 3-4 weeks in between. Can He go on his home country's passport and can he come back to USA on his GC? When does INS take the green card away. Will he have any issues. Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone done this

His Citizenship houston timeline
Grean card date 6/5/2001
Rd is 20 March 06
fp April 10th 06
Interview Date Jun 27 06
Oath wil be probabale Aug 8th 06.

Alot of ppl go out after interview,its not a problem...just make sure his gc is valid(not expired)...
they take the gc at the time of the oath....
lot of ppl have done this...
btw ever heard of allstate?
