Can I take my new-born baby born after cp interview?

I have posted it in the normal CP issues also. But as it is urgent and kind of Post GC also, I have re-posted it here also.

I am a typical Consular processing-Mumbai case and have got IV (valid for 6 months) a few days back and my wife was pregnant. At the time of conuslar interview we were told that once the baby is born, I can visit the Mumbai consualate along with the birth certificate of the new born before proceeding to US. My wife has now delivered a baby. Now when I called up the consulate; they told me that as the baby is below 2 years, we can directly take her along with us to US with a BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Ofcourse, the passport is mandatory in India.

is this OK i.e. will there be any problem if I, my wife we both go directly along with the new-born? Any body has experienced this?

Early reply would be HIGHLY appreiciated as I have to go in 3-4 days time.

Thanks

do i need to apply for GC of child once we are in US?

Thanks for the reply

As I understand, I-551 valid for 6 months will be stamped on mine and my wife's passport; will there be any stamping on my baby's passport?

After some time, I and my wife will receive the plastic card. Will my baby also get a plastic card? What will be my child's status?

The child will also get a card, but one without picture (GCs with picture are only issued to children 14 or older.)

Not sure about this, children under 14 also get GC with the picture, but without the finger print.

Thanks guys for all the inputs. This site is awesome.

so, there will not be any necesity to file some papers(petition, etc) for the baby' GC. Is it right?

Now, an important question here--if you'd like to bring your baby born overseas as a PR, do you need to obtain any documents/certified documents from the US consulate? e.g. a consulate-certified birth certificate etc.

Any other documents, or a foreign country-issued birth certificate will be OK?

Don't know about the baby, but you will get the 551 stamp valid for 1 year.

Dear friends,I am really puzzled whether to get lawyer's help or not for removing conditions on my Green Card.I got the forms and most of the stuff seems pretty easy but when it comes to affidavits of atleast two persons.I get stuck on this.So can any oneone post some sample formats for it.
Your kind input would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
