can I take a part time job (second job) using my EAD?

I am waiting for 485 approval, 180 days lapsed, currently have my EAD (till end of 2003).

My question: While continuing with the current job, can I pursue a second job (part time, moon lighting) using the EAD? Do I need to inform my employer (the first), lawyer?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Yes. You can take up a second job and work for them with your EAD. However you need to work on EAD with your current employer as well.. Inform him that you will be working on EAD and then take up the second job.

why do I need to tell my current Emplyr about the switch to EAD? The only downside to that is I cannot apply for H1 extension. Need to live on EAD, which looks risky.

AFAIK, once you start using your EAD, you can no longer use work authorization granted to you by virtue of your H-1B, so you need to use EAD at all the places where you are working or planning to do so...
