Can I stay on pending I-140 after H1b expires?

My I-140 is still pending and H1b is expiring.

Can I stay in the US after my H1b expires
to wait for my I-140 approval and work as well?

No.....
you must have an EAD which you receive after filing I485 concurrently. Even if you get EAD it is adviced to keep working on H1B as it is easier to travel that way...So the suggestion is to keep on extending H1 till you get your GC

You must renew H1-B if you have not filed for 485. I140 without applying for I485 do not provide leagl status. Also you cannot work with I140 approval. Either you need H1B or EAD.
