2) Do I necessarily have to wait for either a passport stamp or a greencard?
3) I have heard that the local centers have stopped doing passport stamps these days, unless it is for emergency reasons. Is this true? BTW, my I-485 was approved by Nebraska Service Center, my local office is Chicago.
