Hello all,

Thanks for all the messages here, it's very informative. I have one specific question, that's not answered here.

My H-1 expires in three months and my six year period also expires same time. My company is going to apply for an extension soon. I don't have my I-485 submitted yet.

Can my parents get visitor visa before my extension or after?

In other words, do they check in Consulate on how much time is left for the sponsorer? Do they reject if I don't have six months left in my H-1? Is it advisable to wait for the extension to get cleared and then my parents get the visa?

Your opinions are highly appreciated, thanks.

Thanks,
N. Krishnan.

I think your parents should not have any problems whatsoever.
Consulate looks for 2 things, 1) Ability to afford the trip and living costs in the US, 2) Definite plans to return to home country at the end of stay.
Make sure that you include a letter addressed to the US consulate explaining your eligibility to extend H1 beyond 6 years. Include copies of any relevant documents ( Current H1 approval, Labor Certification, I-140 receipt or approval notice, etc.) Also include other documentation. You can find a list elsewhere in this forum.
