Can I sell software on the side while in the US on L-1B?

Hi,

I'm currently in the U.S. on an L-1B. I work full time for my sponsoring company. In my spare time I developed a few small games that I would like to sell via Apple's iTunes store.

I'm not talking about opening a business or anything. I would simply upload my programs to the iTunes store and if people buy them Apple would send me a check with the revenues each month. Of course I would be paying taxes on that income here in the U.S.

My question is if I'm allowed to have a second source of income while working here on an L-1B? Would this cause trouble once I file my tax return and it lists two sources of income, one from my sponsoring company and one from the software I sold?

Thanks in advance!
Timo

Work of any kind for other than your employer - including self employment - is illegal. If you are developing programs with the intent of distributing them to others - even for free, that is considered to be work. Illegal work is treated very harshly. Don't even think about what you have proposed unless you return to your home country.
