Can I request another copy of I-140 approval from INS?

 My I-140 was approved last October. However, my company has suspended the I-485 submission saying my salary is 5% lower than the prevailing wage. I'd like to find a lawyer and resume the process. In this case, my company will not provide me with the I-140 approval. I heard I could get a copy from INS by paying $140 fee. Anybody knows or has experience on this? Thank you in advance!

looks like your company is not willing to stand by you GC processing, at least not for now. I suggest you wait until they are willing to pay the promised wages. Or negotiate a salary raise for a later time along with a salary cut now. If your employer values your contribution he might be willing to make some adjustments.
Remember your employer has to give you a notarized letter of employment at the time of filing I-485. It would constitute fraud of you apply for 485 WITHOUT your employer's consent. Having a copy of I-140 does not help.

You are right. My company is not willing to file I-485 for me. They said that is for my protection. However, since I am sure my salary will reach INS requirement by June 2004, or maybe earlier. Does it really hurt if I file on my own? Actually, several of my colleagues have done this two months ago. However, they are smarter and got a copy of I-140 approval from the company lawyer last Oct, whild I didn't.
