Qns:

1) When I take the decision in 2010, do i have to show NP and I-94? I know I have to bring a form of ID to pick up the decision but I have unexpired EAD as my ID.

2) Assume I am granted, I'll get a new I-94. Will the old I-94 be taken away by the asylum officers?

3) If I renew NP before picking up my decision, will it affect the result of my asylum or GC application in the future OR will my asylee status be revoked when they find it out?

4) What will happen if I renew my NP after I i pick up the decision, assuming both positive and negative decision?

5) How will the USCIS find out that i had renewed NP, assuming that I do not travel abroad using the renewed NP?

6) Does GC application require asylees to bring or use their NP?

Thank you. I'll appreciate a prompt response.

hi,
Why do you need to renew your passport?
I mean, I don't see any reason you have to renew it now...
You don't need a renewed passport to picvk up your I-589 result as far as I know.

rightr, Renew your National passport will cause to INS to re-check your case's reallness.

You can apply Refugee travel documents if you want to travel.

It is ok.

Guys, thanks for the valuable and prompt response. I will be picking up my decision soon and assume that I am referred to IJ and that my NP will expire earlier than the first master hearing with IJ. My question is can I renew NP since my asylum has not been granted?

Clarification on past post:

I have asked two paralegals; one is from my lawyer's office and the other is a paralegal with the same nationality as mine (My guess is she had been an asylee before). Both answered that I can renew NP. The paralegal with the same nationality stated the reason (which is similar reason as mine): as a person who is granted asylum and subsequently adjusted to GC, he or she has not acquired US citizenship and her asylum or GC status can be revoked by DHS. If I don't renew my passport then i will lose my native citizenship and if DHS revoke my asylum or GC for any reasons and deport me, where will I live? I'll be a STATELESS person. This is because there is a requirement in my country's immigration law that a citizen who is away from the country for a certain period of time has to declare that he or she wants to remain the citizen of the country (i.e by renewing passport) or else they will revoke your citizenship. If so, he or she can try to reinstate her citizenship by making a request to the IJ in my country.

Thats why I am confused whether I should renew NP or not.

Thank you.
