I'm planning to fly to Canada (Edmonton) from California (U.S) in Nov. for permanent residence immigration stamping and return to U.S within 30 days by plane. I have valid I-20 and I-94; but my F-1 visa is expired.

My question is can I go to Canada and come back within 30 days by plane or do I have to go and come back to U.S through land border. I prefer to go and come back by plane. Any information and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Zakh.

I don't know if I am too late, but maybe it will help others. My husband and I went to Toronto in June 2004 to get the PR stamping in Canada. We went by Greyhound. However, the lady in Canada office was flirting with someone and scribbled something in our passports instead of stamping, and we entered Toronto without any valid visa. Then we had someone drive us around the border and reenter Canada without entering US again and explained at the border to get the stamping. Lot of circus. But we got it done and reentered US by flight. The interview was smooth. They ask you to show all your I-20s and papers. We both were on OPT, but not working. Don't mention if you are not working. But OPT helps to reenter. After all that, there is something called 'L' 'U' 'C' 'K'!!!
