Can I go get my FP earlier than schedule date?

my nd is dec.,2001,
finnally my lawyer told me that INS have mailed me a 2FP notice, but the date is 1/27/2004,
He told me that I can't go earlier to get my 2 FP.
But I remember that I saw some message post on here that some place can have FP done earlier than schedule date,
My center will be the downtown Manhattan, New York city.
Please help!!!!
 
My 2nd FP is sheduled on Jan 14 and I am going for my FP this wednesday as I hv genuine reason. My wife is due for baby this month end and she cannot travel next 2 weeks.
