Can I file for EAD ?

Gurus,
I was able to file my I-140 & 485 before Sept 30, 2005. My questions are:
1. For some reason  my employer did not file for EAD along with I-140+485. Can I still file it at some later point of time or it can be filed only once along with I-140+485 filing ? If its possible to apply EAD at later time do I loose my H1 status after expiry of my 6 years H1 ? or I can renew both (EAD and H1) ?
2. I am married but my wife is still in my home country. Once she arrives in US, can I file her 485 too while my 485 is still in process? I mean for filing her 485 does she have to wait till the priority date becomes current or she can apply for the reason my 485 is already in process ?

Would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks in advance.

1) Answer to your first question is YES. You can file EAD as long as your I-485 is pending.

2) I think your wife need to wait until your PD become current.

Thanks for your reply Addagarla. Do I've to apply EAD through attorney only or can I file it later by myslef ?
Also, once my H1 term expires can I renew my H1 even though I've EAD?

thanks,

Both options are possible. You can file it by yourself or you can file it through your attorney.

Yes, you can renew your H1 as long as your 485 is pending and you dont use your EAD.
