Can I even ask for an interim EAD?

Hi,
This is what happened:
March 24, 2005 - mailed I-130, I-485, I-765 application
March 28 - Los Angeles District Office received the package
April 13 - Check was cleared but don't know which office cleared it (Los Angeles or Chicago)
April 29 - Went to Los Angeles District Office but they told me that they couldn't find my name on the system, i.e. my package has not been processed yet, and told me to wait

I did not hear from USCIS nor did I receive anything such as receipt number or A number. I ordered a copy of the cleared check (http://www.rcbestseller.com/images/wamu.JPG) but the back of the check did not have any of those number.

I am going to have an appointment at Los Angeles District Office tomorrow. Now it has been more than 90 days since the check was cleared. Can I request for an interim EAD? I went there 2 weeks ago and they told me they couldn't find me on the system and was wondering if my package has gone to Chicago!

I understand that an interim EAD may be issued if your EAD is pending for more than 90 days. But for me, I didn't even receive anything from them, can I even ask for an interim EAD?

I think you can , I remember someone else (in some other thread) got a temporary EAD from the local office , but had to carry a letter from his employer stating that he might loose his job , if the he did not get his EAD...
