Can I enter US on Canadian PR Card?

I entered Canada on July 22, 2000. I applied for my PR card on July 24, 2003. My PR card is ready to be picked up from Toronto. My company in US has applied for my H1B1 but has not received yet.

My questions are:

* Can I enter US from Canada on my Canadian PR card? In case of US status: I will only have receipt from USCIS saying my company has applied for H1B1. My original I-94 has expired.
* What are the problems in entering Canada by private vehicle and back in the same vehicle to US which has California Number plate?
* Can/will they deny entery to US/Canada?

With that said; I won't have prob to enter Canada but can't enter US without H1 extension and new I-94.

Once I get my new H1 approved; do I need to stamp my passport or I can enter without that?
