Can I do Sole proprietorship business ?

Hello,

I am on H1-B and my GC is in process. Can I open a busiess as a sole propritoryship(self employment ) and sell merchandize on the internet(ebay). Is it legal? Would there be any problem for GC approval?

Can I buy Stocks and Shares while I am on H1?

if the answer is YES then ....

If I can buy Stocks while on H1 and earn profit out of it then why can't I sell merchendize which I make at home like paintings, in my extra time and sell on the internet and pay sales tax and income tax?


I have a lots of friends who are doing sole propritory bussiness like Quickstar, Amay while they on H1-B and still got their GC.

I do not understatnd the logic .....

I would like to get more and clear information on doing(not doing) business while on H1. Where can I find all these laws and rules explained about. I have been trying to find more about it and no luck except these couple of forums . You seem to have a lot of knowledge. Would you mind shareing any book on this or any websites. I sincerely appriciate your time and help.
