Can I do Finger Printing without FP Notice from CIS ? Please help.

I have filled my I140 and I485 in last week of December 2002 for me and my spouse.
I haven't got the First Finger Printing Notice yet even after 1 1/2 years of filling I485 and my spouse got her First FP notice in Feb 2003 and she did her FP in March 2003 and recently her LUD has changed twice in last month i.e., 06/2004 and My LUD is still 1/27/2003.

It looks like CIS is now working on my spouse case and since I haven't done FP yet, I am concerned that they might keep my spouse case pending as I am primary applicant.

So I would like to go for Finger Printing in Newark this weekend without any FP Notice from CIS.

Can I do this and if so, then what all documents I need to take with me and please share with me if anybody has done FP
without FP Notice.

First Finger Printing Not Done Yet ?
 
I tried to get my Finger Print 2 without a notice (means not scheduled by USCIS). But I could not get it done. They simply asked me to come when I receive my FP2 notice.
